Ram was a member of my team during the Summer and Fall terms of 2018. Ram was tasked with a challenging long-term project involving multiple technologies, bringing various programs together in an API we planned to use for future projects. Ram was able to get the project off the ground and progress it by applying skills in active listening to learn about our specifications and existing functionality, by researching and designing parts of the API approach based on best practices and discussion with other team members about use cases, and by learning to navigate specialized python functionality so he could port existing code into the new API he was building. Ram also developed documentation and met with other coders for knowledge transfer, both as the learner and the teacher in different cases. Throughout his time with us, Ram was consistently engaged, punctual and professional. He was able to collaboratively work through problems involving specialized domain knowledge, he adapted to feedback along the way, and he always strived to learn more and improve his work and expertise.

I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Mr. Rama Teja Repaka, an excellent graduate student in my CSE 682 Software Engineering class (Fall 2017) and CSE 686 Internet Programming class (Spring 2018). In CSE 682, which introduced students to the state-of-the-art software engineering methods, he, together with his teammates, followed a rigorous requirement engineering process to specify a software system of their choice, starting from feasibility study and requirements gathering, through requirements analysis and specification, and down to requirements validation and management. This process produced an SRS (software requirements specification) document, which also included key UML diagrams. Based on the SRS, they explored high-level design options for implementation, and carried out its detailed design and implementation, meeting the requirements set forth in the SRS. Their resulting software was well designed, implemented and documented and thoroughly tested.

In CSE 686, he learned how to architect, implement and program cutting-edge Web applications, as well as the underlying Web server technology. More specifically, he learned TCP/IP, Sockets, Java Network Programming, Java Thread Programming, HTTP, Apache HTTP/Web Server, HTML5, JavaScript, PHP and its integration with a DBMS such as MySQL. He was able to apply most of these technologies to his term project, which is a web application and an eCommerce platform. Again, this project is well designed, implemented and documented. In the process, he has also become proficient in EJB (Enterprise Java Beans), SOAP, REST, JSON, and AWS.

As his professor, I have had an opportunity to observe his participation and interaction in class and outside, and to evaluate his knowledge of the subject matter. He performed well in all respects, but especially in Java programming. I am now also aware that he has nearly 25 months of experience in Java development. I highly recommend him for any software or web developer position he is seeking.

RamTeja has been my colleague for 15 months in TCS. RamTeja is one of the few amazing developers I know and he is a hard working, conscientious, and punctual employee with the ability to adapt to ever-changing business circumstances. RamTeja was a lead contributor in one of the modules of the project. He consistently makes the extra effort to ensure project tasks are completed on time. Furthermore, he regularly assumes responsibility for key project tasks and sees them to completion with limited guidance.
